2023 CT Luncheon & Fashion Show

EVENT WRAP-UP

Pink Land Was The Sweetest Afternoon Escape!

More than 650 Pink Aid supporters entered Pink Land on October 12th to celebrate 13 years of providing “compassion until there’s a cure” in Connecticut and beyond!
Mitchells’ Westport store was transformed into a giant candy-themed fantasy backdrop with giant lollipops, a massive game board and a fully-stocked candy bar. As always, the team from Marcia Selden Catering, absolutely committed to the theme with imaginative cocktails and some truly unbelievable treats.
2022 speaker and former Broadway dancer, Sarrah Strimmel Bentley, gave a rousing musical update on her surrogacy journey. Everyone is excited that she and her husband will welcome a baby boy this December!
Mitchells presented a designer collection reflecting every color from the Candy Land rainbow. Guest speaker, PBS News Hour’s Ali Rogin, talked about her journey as a “previvor”, a carrier of the BRCA 1 gene which significantly increases her risk for developing both breast and ovarian cancer. Her book, “Beat Breast Cancer Like a Boss”, chronicles her conversations with survivors from all walks of life. The title is a nod to her father, Max Weinberger, drummer for Bruce Springsteen and a BRCA 1 carrier and cancer survivor himself.
This year’s “Celebration of Life '' runway walk was particularly exuberant as young survivor, Ali Heitz, opened the show with her mother, Westport artist, Kerri Rosenthal. Sixteen breast cancer ‘warriors’ made the emotional journey down the runway along with friends or family members who gave them the support they needed during treatment and recovery.
Pink Land’s amazing success was due in large part to the event’s three co chairs, Lindsey Allen, Jill Halper and Andi Sklar. Along with Pink Aid Presidents Nicole Bonn and Courtney Prussin and a host of tireless volunteers, Pink Aid received record-setting corporate and donor support. Pink Aid is deeply grateful to everyone who came out to support our mission in so many ways this October!
On to The Paramount Theater in Huntington, Long Island on October 26th to celebrate 10 years of compassion!
